The Significant Milestone

A dream is yet a dream till efforts to move mountains become a reality and that, what was once conceived as a vision, has now become a reality. As one of my favorite quotes “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step” by Lao Tzu keeps my diligent efforts everyday to take one step at a time moving forward in a direction where our vision and dreams exist. Today, I, “WE”, proudly introduce the Breitling brand to the Great State of Kansas. A dream that became reality through efforts comprehended by only a few. Conscious sacrifices in pursuing a dream, The American Dream, where anything is possible with the greatest of efforts directed towards a common goal.

Some may wonder, why the Breitling brand took this long and why OUR pursuit towards this exquisite and yet remarkable Swiss watch brand to bring to KARATS. To them, WE say, It is the dream to fly high, to break the status quo, to push through the unchartered territories of space and air where possibilities are limitless. It resonates with OUR vision to achieve greatness at everything we do. Push forward with a goal to be excellent. Breitling is such a brand. Fearless and Roars Excellence. It is a love affair where one just stares into the others eyes without blinking and the hearts feel the warmth. Such is a relation for our endurance for excellence.

While WE cherish this important milestone there are a few that have to be acknowledged. For without them the journey to a thousand miles wouldn’t be possible. I express my thanks to the KARATS Team. Without them I am insignificant. Then I express my gratitude to our wonderful customers and friends for their unwavering support, trust and utmost faith in us. With your love and support we will continue to conquer mountains and what may come our way. We express supreme gratitude to you and humbled that you choose us and honor us with your presence. Then, we honor, our industry friends, designers, manufacturers and supporters. We are all indeed a family. The family that sticks together no matter what may come. We are thankful to you always for being the brick wall we can always lean on. You all continue to guide us, show us the path and share the wisdoms to see KARATS prosper. It is with your humility and compassion we continue to move forward.

I and everyone at KARATS is personally grateful to the Lord in The Heavens. Without your sheer blessings and infinitive wisdom we cannot even begin to be capable to dream the dreams we dream to conquer. All we ask and pray is for the grace and infinite wisdom upon us. We are grateful to our families for letting us expand our wings and fly to whatever heights we wish to go. You all are our biggest cheerleaders and we gain our strength by knowing that you always believe in us.

Last but not least, I personally honor my grandparents, I know the struggles you endured as you grew your business half the way across the world in India and now it stands as one of the oldest and finest. You remained faithful to righteousness and built it on the highest of standards. While I do miss you both everyday, I may live my life the way you did with the highest standards and honoring you by leading the path for excellence at what we so lovingly do.

Filled with gratitude and emotion on this fine evening, living in the greatest of nation, surrounded by simply amazing people that dream big in pursuit of excellence,

With Gratitude You Reach New Heights

Im grateful for the friendships and partnerships that we have in the amazing jewelry industry I belong too. Recently KARATS was awarded as the # 1 Engagement Ring Store by The Knot Magazine and within weeks we received a fabulous honor from Vanna K Designer Brand.

We were bestowed with the # 1 performing Vanna K Dealer in Entire America for 2013. As I am reflecting on these honors I have to say that it cannot be done without the humble support of my family, friends, Karats Team Members, Customers, Vendors & Designers and each one of you that truly cares for us.

Each day I hope that I can exemplify Humbleness, A heart filled with Gratitude and Most Importantly Always Putting Others First. I keep in my heart the biblical quote from Matthew “The First Shall be The Last, The Last Shall Be The First And The Servant Amongst You Would Be The Greatest.” It is with the servant like attitude I hope to impact every life I touch.

The Living Chiefs of the United States of America.

If you know me, then you know how much I love the United States of America. I have many times said. That I truly bleed Red, White and Blue. In March of this year I met President Bill Clinton, A man I have looked upto for what he has done for Global Welfare through the Clinton Foundation and continues to do and make an impact across the world. He has by far done more in his post presidential life than any President I know. I admire him for his efforts to serve humanity.

We live in a great nation, and it is truly for these men and the ones before and the ones after (or a women) that this NATION is still the GREATEST OF ALL. Such an Awesome picture of all the living Presidents of the United States of America. Their leadership and their vision continues to make our country the best on this planet. “One Nation, Under God, with Liberty and Justice For ALL”.

God Bless America, God Bless everyone and May the Red, White & Blue always stand for freedom, righteousness and justice for all.

Ok, let’s get serious here. A popular professor at NYU’s Stern School of Business replied to a student’s email in a way that is party jerkface but mostly, part sage life adviceDeadspin reports that a student walked into the 1st day of class an hour late and the professor told her to leave & come back to the next class. In the comments section, most people were surprised to find themselves siding with the professor, citing topics like the rudeness of interrupting 80 people who pay full tuition to the foolishness of  “shopping” 3 classes in the same time slot. The professor actually XXXX’d out the student’s name and emailed it to all of his students! See below.. what’s your take on this?

Subject: Brand Strategy Feedback

Prof. Galloway,

I would like to discuss a matter with you that bothered me. Yesterday evening I entered your 6pm Brand Strategy class approximately 1 hour late. As I entered the room, you quickly dismissed me, saying that I would need to leave and come back to the next class. After speaking with several students who are taking your class, they explained that you have a policy stating that students who arrive more than 15 minutes late will not be admitted to class.

As of yesterday evening, I was interested in three different Monday night classes that all occurred simultaneously. In order to decide which class to select, my plan for the evening was to sample all three and see which one I like most. Since I had never taken your class, I was unaware of your class policy. I was disappointed that you dismissed me from class considering (1) there is no way I could have been aware of your policy and (2) considering that it was the first day of evening classes and I arrived 1 hour late (not a few minutes), it was more probable that my tardiness was due to my desire to sample different classes rather than sheer complacency.

I have already registered for another class but I just wanted to be open and provide my opinion on the matter.

Regards,
xxxx

xxxx:

Thanks for the feedback. I, too, would like to offer some feedback.

Just so I’ve got this straight…you started in one class, left 15-20 minutes into it (stood up, walked out mid-lecture), went to another class (walked in 20 minutes late), left that class (again, presumably, in the middle of the lecture), and then came to my class. At that point (walking in an hour late) I asked you to come to the next class which “bothered” you.

Correct?

You state that, having not taken my class, it would be impossible to know our policy of not allowing people to walk in an hour late. Most risk analysis offers that in the face of substantial uncertainty, you opt for the more conservative path or hedge your bet (e.g., do not show up an hour late until you know the professor has an explicit policy for tolerating disrespectful behavior, check with the TA before class, etc.). I hope the lottery winner that is your recently crowned Monday evening Professor is teaching Judgement and Decision Making or Critical Thinking.

In addition, your logic effectively means you cannot be held accountable for any code of conduct before taking a class. For the record, we also have no stated policy against bursting into show tunes in the middle of class, urinating on desks or taking that revolutionary hair removal system for a spin. However, xxxx, there is a baseline level of decorum (i.e., manners) that we expect of grown men and women who the admissions department have deemed tomorrow’s business leaders.

xxxx, let me be more serious for a moment. I do not know you, will not know you and have no real affinity or animosity for you. You are an anonymous student who is now regretting the send button on his laptop. It’s with this context I hope you register pause…REAL pause xxxx and take to heart what I am about to tell you:

xxxx, get your shit together.

Getting a good job, working long hours, keeping your skills relevant, navigating the politics of an organization, finding a live/work balance…these are all really hard, xxxx. In contrast, respecting institutions, having manners, demonstrating a level of humility…these are all (relatively) easy. Get the easy stuff right xxxx. In and of themselves they will not make you successful. However, not possessing them will hold you back and you will not achieve your potential which, by virtue of you being admitted to Stern, you must have in spades. It’s not too late xxxx…

Again, thanks for the feedback.

Meeting President Clinton.

I had the great privilege to hear and meet President Bill Clinton. A man that I have looked upto for the amazing work and deed he has done for the United States and for the World. A man that believes in giving back and leaving the world better than what he found it as. A true visionary and serving humanity for its betterment.

When you meet someone his caliber you are left with no choice but to grow from the experience. An individual such as this can truly move mountains and make a difference. I will forever remember meeting him in person and our conversation on various topics of humanity and well being of others.

President Clinton

The Kansas Citians

As much as I have gained and grown by calling this city my own, the city has given back to me ten folds. It is with gratitude and wonderful friends such as these that I grow and become a better person each day. My friendship with Phil Goff –  The Leawood Officer, John Holt – TV/News anchor, Mark Terman – A Kansas City police offer and fellow friends around have truly enriched my life for better.

Life is wonderful with great friends around. Happy Saturday !!!!

Journey to a thousand miles….

One of my favorite quotes has always been that The Journey to a Thousand Miles Begins with a Single Step. The ultimate truth is that we all have a limited time, we know that our time is not infinite and yet we as mortals live life as immortals. Living each day at a time, doing what we want to do without realizing that the bigger picture is to LIVE FOR OTHERS.

So today, I encourage you to be a Picasso at what you do. The Michelangelo of your dreams and to accomplish what even the gods envy. To do the impossible through sheer determination. Live, Fly and be the Best and spread Love, Peace and Awesomeness to everyone you come across.

With Love, Hugs and Well Wishes.
