Paul Tacorian Visits KARATS

It was a pleasure to host Paul Tacorian at KARATS on his visit to Kansas City. Paul, CEO at Tacori is a valuable member of our designer brands that we proudly feature. KARATS success wouldn’t be possible without our friends and partners.

Before Paul visited KARATS, I invited him over to my house for breakfast and spending time with a valued friend. His friendship to me and KARATS means a lot and our business is one of relationships. With customers and vendors alike.

To many more wonderful years with the Tacorian’s and the Tacori family. Cheers 2018 and beyond.

Why Platinum ? A Post from Tacori.com

I thought to share the importance of Why Platinum? Our friends at Tacori have done a great job in explaining Why Platinum is a better metal. This post is from one of their Blogs. You can visit the link to the actual Blog Post at the bottom of this page. In the spirit to promote a better metal I fully voice the same recommendations as our friends at Tacori have done.

You have many choices to make when you’re selecting your engagement ring and wedding bands, and your decision about which metal to wear is one of the most important.

There are pros and cons to every metal option, including personal preference and pricing. And no matter which metal you select, we know that you want to make an informed decision about the best metal for you. If you’re debating between white gold and Platinum, here a few of the reasons why Platinum is the premium choice for Tacori engagement rings and wedding bands.

To start, Platinum’s naturally white color won’t fade or change color over time. This means, no maintenance is required to maintain a white hue over the lifetime of the ring.

Compared to a white gold ring, it’s important to note that gold itself is naturally occurring in nature as a soft yellow metal. In order to change the color from yellow to create a white gold ring, the natural yellow gold must be mixed with other white metals – also known as an “alloy” – to lessen the yellow appearance and strengthen the gold into a formula that can be used for jewelry purposes. After the white gold alloy is created, the initial white color of a white gold ring does often fade over time, and requires maintenance over the life of the ring to restore the white color to a showroom finish. This is different from a Platinum ring, which will not require maintenance to maintain its white hue.

Additionally, the metal purity of Platinum is approximately 95% pure Platinum, compared to a white gold alloy, which is approximately 75% gold for an 18K gold alloy ring. This purity makes a Platinum ring not only more dense with this precious metal (as it’s 95% pure Platinum), but it is also naturally hypoallergenic and ideal for those with sensitive skin. This is different from white gold, which is known to contain other metals in its alloy which may trigger an allergic reaction.

Additionally, this natural density and weight of Platinum – as Platinum is 25% heavier than gold – are characteristics that make it more durable than other jewelry metals. Platinum does not wear away and holds precious stones firmly and securely. In short, Platinum prongs are better protection for diamonds.

Like all precious metals, Platinum scratches. But when these scratches occur on a Platinum piece, they actually create a natural, rich patina on the ring that strengthens the metallurgical properties of the piece.

However, the scratch on a Platinum piece is merely a displacement of the metal and none of its volume is lost — unlike gold, which can flake away if scratched and wear thin over the lifetime of a ring. If a Platinum ring is dented (because it is a softer metal than gold), Platinum can often be reshaped, as none of its original volume is lost.

In addition to its strength and density, Platinum has another remarkable quality – pliability. Platinum is so pliable, that just one gram of the metal can be drawn to produce a fine wire over one mile (almost 2 km) long. This quality has enabled jewelers to create some amazing versatile Platinum designs, which could not be fashioned from other precious metals. And because Tacori’s designs are often so intricate with the hand-crafted details, Platinum is the optimal metal for our craftsmanship to truly shine.

In our opinion, everything looks better in Platinum.

The value for Quality, Dependability and Peace of Mind

Every day we make choices and decisions based on price, quality, speed, comfort and other reasons that make us choose why we do business with one company over the other.

There is one thing for sure, the extra cost for quality, dependability and peace of mind will always trump the low cost commodity. In today’s time and era literally everything has become a commodity. From the dentist office to air travel to even food. Walmart has gained its popularity in the presumption and many times being the lowest price in many things. The jewelry industry is one of the highly commoditized businesses as well, I face every day on how we can differentiate ourselves , how and what sets us apart.

I share with you a recent experience when I flew Frontier to to Los Angeles on a business trip. Despite the fact that I took the earliest flight to California our flight was not only cancelled and we weren’t notified with no agent at the gate 10 min before boarding. Customer service at the check in counter was not even close to being courteous and the 1-800 number that I called to find a different flight kept me on hold for an hour and fifteen minutes with a recording that said my wait is 7 minutes every 10 minutes. Waiting patiently with zero to none customer service I rebooked my flight to California with Southwest on my iPhone app within minutes and arrived for my business convention right on time (talk about convienience). On my return flight from L.A. Frontier would charge me $1.95 for a small cup of soda or juice that is provided as service with others. It surely made me think of the important questions. What is the price for DEPENDABILITY, RELIABILITY AND PEACE OF MIND ? The hundred dollar difference between Southwest and Frontier caused more agitation and frustration than what it could have been if I choose the service of a company that keeps customer service , Quality, Dependability on the forefront.

So, the important question to ask and consider is when you need a company to deliver on a timely fashion, get you to your destination on time, or provide exceptional service and peace of mind who would you choose? More often than none it’s not going to be the Walmarts or the Frontiers of the world, but the slightly expensive company that provides a valuable and pleasurable experience at a marginal cost difference.

I know the difference of what DEPENDABILITY, RELIABILITY AND PEACE OF MIND looks like. I hope you do too with the many choices we all make everyday. There is a reason why Apple, Southwest, Starbucks, Zappos, Target, Chipotle, Quick Trip, Verragio & Tacori are the leading pioneers in their industry.

Here is a quick hint and a great way to choose a business that will always be ahead of the curve and will always deliver more than minimum: LOCAL, FAMILY OPERATED, PRIVATE ENTERPRISE, A COMPANY WHERE EMPLOYEES ARE PUT BEFORE CUSTOMERS (happy employees make happy customers) . These operations are hungry for success and value EACH AND EVERY CUSTOMER that comes their way. I speak for them as I am one of them. I know them and know how we value every soul that we touch.

Think again the little difference, the marginal cost of a Verragio or Tacori vs a Chain Store price on the look alike ring and think again who will deliver QUALITY, DEPENDIBILITY, RELIABILITY AND PEACE OF MIND.

I’m going back to sharpening our pencil on how to be exemplary and provide more than minimum. The best advice I ever got was “It’s all in the Extra Mile”
