Misty, Scott + Karats Jewelers: A Perfect Match in Kansas City

There’s no better marriage in the bridal business – or any business – than two family-owned, multi-generation companies with integrity and tradition at their core. One such couple is Misty and Scott, who tied the knot this past fall. Misty fell in love with the Charlotte collection practically at first glance. She knew it was The One, as sapphires and clean lines Kirk Kara sapphire and diamond engagement ring and wedding band setwere details she had always envisioned in her perfect ring. Ironically enough, she wasn’t as quick to fall for her husband. Misty’s cousin Sandy orchestrated a chance meeting by inviting Scott, her neighbor, along on a family trip. She had every intention of getting them together, but it took some time for Misty to come around. Six months and some reluctance later, Misty finally gave in and they began dating. Like many love stories, things progressed quickly from there.

With plans to get engaged, they tracked down Karats Jewelers in Overland Park as an authorized Kirk Kara retailer and made the hour-long trek there to see the Charlotte designs in person. Sure enough, Misty’s love for the collection was confirmed, which came as no surprise to Karats owner Akshay Andy Anand. “Kirk’s designs and use of color sets him apart from all other brands in the engagement ring business,” he says. “Their bridal jewelry reflects the many tastes and preferences of today’s couple.” Despite spending quite some time looking at engagement rings that day, Misty kept going back to the one she had come to see. The decision was made and she got fitted on the spot.

Unbeknownst to his bride-to-be, Scott purchased the ring that day, and soon, he surprised her with a proposal in front of his son and her cousin Sandy’s children, who sweetly captured the whole romantic gesture on video. Misty was incredulous, as she had just been fitted for the ring. She even asked if it was real! “It was absolutely stunning,” says Misty. “He had bought the ring the day we looked at it. I had no idea. Of course, I said yes!” Thanks to Karats Jewelers, Scott was able to expedite his purchase and make the proposal happen much sooner than Misty could imagine.

The delicate designs amaze me almost daily,” says Misty. “I receive many compliments on my wedding bands and I wouldn’t trade them for the world. To A New Year

2015 was a great year for KARATS in a lot of aspects. Not only we won the Best Of Weddings from The Knot 3 years in a row ( 2014, 2015 and now 2016) we once again became the ONLY Tacori Platinum Partner for 2016 in Kansas. Verragio also renewed our Exclusive Verragio Premiere Boutique Status as its only store in entire Kansas City Metro. As KARATS continued to grow we also added prestigious watch brands such as Tudor, Longines, Luminox and more.

We did also endure some setbacks which included the 2 robberies at KARATS within 60 days. However, those setbacks did not keep us or our loyal customers from making it a great year. It actually has helped us further in implementing some changes, adding new and expanded security systems and close coordination with the great city of Overland Park we live in. It was also amazing to see how much the community cared for us and outpoured their love and support to KARATS and us. Family, friends, vendors and the City came forward to extend the most helping hand we have ever seen. To them we will always be grateful.

Personally, I’m also grateful for the growth and the opportunities we have had to continue growing KARATS. I have always believed in a great saying “The Journey To A Thousand Miles Begins With A Single Step”. KARATS is indeed a dream. It is larger than life and our American Dream that we have build with love and dedication. There is a fundamental difference between businesses. Those at the helm who see it merely as a business will be complacent but those that treat it like a love and passion will continue to invest in its growth for the greater good. Jim Collins in his book Good To Great said it right “Their ambition is first and foremost for the institution, not themselves.” As we continue to turn the pages of 2016 I cannot wait to see what is in-store for us. I am looking forward anxiously to what this year brings in many fronts personally and professionally.

A great thing about living in Kansas City metro is the wonderful local events that make it fun to attend.

Just in the past weekend I have attended, The Plaza Art Fair, American Royal BBQ and Water Fire on The Plaza in Kansas City, Missouri

I am looking forward to a busy Fall. In the Jewelry Industry and working at KARATS the privilege of making life long relationships is incomparable.

Reason #982 Why We Love What We Do at KARATS JEWELERS : Customer wanted to get an engagement ring and propose in the next couple weeks. He is a busy business executive and had no time to stop by the store besides today at 8:30 am, however we do not open till 10am everyday. Told him I would be happy to help him One on One and get him his dream ring for her. I was at the store at 7:30 am with a Starbucks getting ready for him and he showed up promptly at 8:30, found a ring he loved and thanked me for being here earlier than regular time. While he was ecstatic to find the PERFECT RING he said there was no one that would have done what we did for him by personally opening up the store before regular business hours since he called a couple places before someone recommended him to come to us. We made a LIFE LONG CUSTOMER at KARATS simply because we always go ABOVE & BEYOND the call of duty. When you love what you do it shows in everything you touch.
